Ah..The age old question: how much should I weigh? Do I need to lose weight? What is
my BMI (body mass index)? What is a healthy weight for my height and body type?
Everyone wants to be thin and attractive, but when does it
become unhealthy? How much should I weigh, is a question that is asked
over, and over again! Being below or over weight may impact your health. People who are overweight
may be at risk for many health issues, such as diabetes or high blood pressure. Underweight people may be at
risk for having an eating disorder (such as anorexia). A good goal to have, when asking yourself “How much
should I weigh”, is to be at a “healthy” weight for you.
In order to find out how "much I should weigh", you need to consider how tall you are,
and your body type (or the size of your bones). A man that is 6 feet tall with
a large frame would need to weigh differently than a woman who is 5 feet tall with a small frame. It is

Oftentimes, how much you want to weigh and how much you should weigh are not the same. In
the end, the answer depends on your body type, how you want to look, your level of activity, and whether you are
willing to cosistently regulate your exercise, and calorie intake. If health is your main concern, extra fat
around the waist is unhealthy for anyone.
